History of the Piece Hall - Occupiers in 1787
![]()
Detail of the South Gate
This list is taken from a Directory of Local Merchants and Manufacturers, 1787. The original is listed by shop number but I have reorganised it into alphabetical order on surname. The letter after the shop number gives the floor, where 'A' is the Arcade (60 rooms), 'R' is the Rustic Gallery (126 rooms) and 'C' is the Colonnade (129 rooms).
Where a shop is occupied by more than one person with different surnames, I have listed the shop twice. Where the surname is the same, I have only listed it once.
Information on shops 61 - 90 (Rustic Gallery) is missing.
