History of the Piece Hall - the 20th Century and beyond

The Thursday Market, Piece Hall

The renovated Piece Hall was opened on Saturday 3rd July 1976.

Celebrations started at 10.00 with the Elland Silver Band and concluded with a Summer Ball which went on until 2 a.m.

Now the future of the building is again a subject of debate, as various bodies consider the best way to use this unique town-centre building.

Meanwhile, there are new shops opening and - as has been the case for more than 220 years - life in the Piece Hall goes on.
